This is the polarized light photomicrograph of a crystallized drop of Martini Rosso, the italian alcoholic beverage world renowned as an aperitif. I had never taken photomicrographs of drinks, also because there was somebody – late Michael Davidson - who did this job at an unbeatable level. But after a conference where I showed Davidson's "Bevshots" and my rock photomicrographs, a guy came to me and said "You should try some italian drinks". I did it and the result is what you see here. Isn't it fantastic?
